Creating Desire to Change

How to Create Desire to Change

Management can create the desire to change as it moves towards implementing change rather than push change down the organization/unit; thus mitigate the affect change will have on the employees.

This is important because most people resist change.

While you take a moment to review the following pages on dealing with change, remember that developing the desire for change is creating anticipation and opportunities among the troops. It gives you a huge advantange.

How to do this? Be up front with employees about the impending change. Nothing should come as a surprise to them. Go through the steps in the motivation theory page. Make them aware of the present position, help them understand, walk them through the dissatisfaction phase all the way to the action part which is the change you are about to implement. Be available.

As you do that, your employees will be on board with the direction the company is taking. They will pull through.
